WHAT HAPPENED?
The Premier League giants are seeking a significantly higher fee for midfielder Carvalho after they knocked back an initial £15m ($19m) bid from Southampton. According to The Athletic, Liverpool are not looking to loan the 21-year-old out again but a permanent move would need to see the Saints' offer increase significantly.

Carvalho impressed in two different loan spells in 2023-24 and Southampton saw first-hand how good he can be when he was with Hull temporarily in the Championship. With a contract running to 2027, Liverpool are firmly in the driving seat when it comes to dictating his future.

Carvalho was recalled from his loan at RB Leipzig early last season and sent straight back out to the Championship. The Portugal Under-21 international was not getting enough minutes on the pitch to please parent club Liverpool and the Bundesliga outfit were left with a sour taste in their mouths as the young midfielder was taken away from their ranks.
